WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY ADVENTURE ELOPEMENT?
Elopements have been a thing for a while, but adventurous elopements are still relatively new. And one of the things our couples feel stuck on is what exactly they should wear for their adventure elopement. We always encourage our couples to find and wear their dream dress but to keep these things in mind during their search.
Get the right shoes
When you're out on your adventure, you want to make sure that you're comfortable and that your shoes will allow for an easy hike. Make sure that your shoes have good traction—hiking boots or trail runners are amazing options for the hiking portion, but there are also a lot of cute booties that are a little more rugged that would make great options too. You can always bring cuter shoes to change into after the hiking portion or whenever we arrive at your destination, but make sure you have comfortable safe shoes to adventure in.
Pro tip! It’s super important to break your shoes in before wearing them on the day of your wedding! This can help prevent blisters from forming during your big day and ensure that everyone stays happy before during and after any walking or hiking. Take the time to break in your boots or shoes, trust me.
Choose the right dress
The day of your elopement is not the time to try out a new dress. Instead, look for something that you can move around in easily and is comfortable (especially if you're getting married outdoors). No matter how amazing the dress looks on you, if it's too hot or heavy or tight, it will be uncomfortable and may even cause problems with your photos. Also try on different types of shoes since they can affect how easy it is to walk around in a wedding gown.
Get the right accessories
Think about the type of location you're eloping at before buying any accessories. Will it be chilly on the mountaintop before your ceremony - look for a cute jacket! Always wanted a long veil, but you’re planning on trekking through narrow slot canyons to say your “I Do’s” - make sure it can travel well packed away in your pack. Be mindful of any family heirloom jewelry, etc that you carefully pack it up for the trip to your elopement spot to ensure its safe keeping.
Consider bringing a hiking outfit, then changing at your destination
If you're planning on hiking to your ceremony spot its a great idea to change into your dress at the viewpoint, so be sure to pack something to wear for your hike. Weather is always a factor too, so having options just in case is always a smart call.
My biggest piece of advice - choose something that allows you to move comfortably, but still shows off your style
Choose something that you can move in.
Choose something that fits you well.
Choose something that shows off your style.
Choose something that you will be comfortable in.
