THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO ELOPING IN ACADIA NATIONAL PARK
Elope Close to Home: Your Ultimate Guide to an Intimate Adventure in Acadia National Park
Not every elopement needs to start with the airport. Especially if you live in New York City your elopement can be somewhere epic that is only a day’s drive away. We love a road trip for your elopement because it can be so much less stressful to have your car, and all your things right there with you, and never having to step foot in an airplane. Plus you’re saving on travel and can allocate more of your budget to accommodations or food, whatever your priority is.
WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR ELOPEMENT IN ACADIA NATIONAL PARK
Acadia National Park is one of my favorite places in the whole country and makes for an incredible elopement destination. The rocky cliffs, tranquil ponds, and incredible views are worth the trip alone, but the scent of that fresh ocean air butted up against the pine trees is like nothing else. The picturesque drive up Route 1, meandering through seaside villages is one of my all-time favorite roads. Making a trip up here for your elopement will be hard to forget.
Acadia National Park is the perfect intimate elopement location for your wedding if you want someplace that is equal parts easy to get to and stunning. It’s the perfect mix of adventurous and convenient plus Acadia is a really accessible park with so many incredible views at the edge of the road or the back of the parking lot.
Acadia National Park elopements have everything from rugged coastline, mountaintop viewpoints, sandy beaches and picturesque lakes. The natural beauty and diverse landscapes provide some really cool backdrops for your ceremony and portraits.
Ok lets get into the details for planning your elopement in Acadia.
WHEN TO HAVE YOUR ACADIA NATIONAL PARK ELOPEMENT
PRO TIP - pick a weekday in mid September through mid November for peak enjoyment
Acadia is open year-round, giving you the flexibility to plan your elopement whenever you want! If you’re looking for the best time to visit Acadia to avoid the crowds AND get the very best weather, the fall is where its at. September, October and even November are the best times to elope in Acadia National Park. You can easily find parking without the summer rush of families in SUVs and the weather is crisp and cool - bonus points if you hit that peak fall foliage. Avoid Memorial Day and Labor Day at all costs and summer overall is too busy in my opinion to comfortably enjoy your intimate elopement
PRO TIP - Acadia National Park's weather can be pretty unpredictable, thanks to its coastal location. Pack layers and appropriate hiking gear and be prepared for all types of weather conditions.
FALL
Fall really is the prime time to elope in Acadia National Park. The stunning fall foliage creates a pretty perfect backdrop, and the weather remains ideal, making it a truly incredible experience.
PRO TIP - The changing leaves attract a bunch of tourists so consider planning your elopement on a weekday to avoid the crowds and enjoy a more intimate celebration.
WINTER
Winter vibes in Acadia National Park are perfect for snow and cold weather enthusiasts. It's the least crowded season, giving you the chance to experience the park seemingly all to yourselves (which really vibes with a serene winter elopement anyway). Embrace the chill and create a totally unique elopement experience!
PRO TIP - Bundle up, because it gets cold and snowy in the park! Layers, boots, warm hats and gloves are a must to keep cozy and comfortable. Plan to rock a stylish coat over your wedding attire.
SPRING
Spring in Acadia is a beautiful season, especially as the snow melts away. The sight of flowers blooming and trees coming back to life melts the seasonal depression away with the snow. While the winter weather may linger, spring is definitely one of the best times for an elopement in Acadia National Park.
PRO TIP - Get a cool jacket, blanket or scarf to wear if its chilly - not only will you be warmer (duh) but you’ll add a pop of color and personality in your photos and video.
SUMMER
Summer offers pleasant weather and so many fun activities to enjoy in Acadia National Park. From hiking to boating and swimming, you'll have plenty of options to make your elopement day extra special.
PRO TIP - Summer is THE MOST popular time to visit Acadia. With larger crowds in popular areas and completely full parking lots. If privacy is a priority for your ceremony and portraits, consider choosing a less frequented location or opting for a weekday elopement.
